Welcome to Reach for the Stars School of DanceWe are an established dance school based in Doncaster providing professional tutition in all IDTA subjects from ages 3 through to Adults. All Classes are structured by age ability and are taught by fully qualified teachers of the IDTA.Our aim is to provide an environment where technique is taught to achieve a pupils full potential in a fun and stimulating environment.We produce exceptional standards of teaching and produce confident and expressive dancers in all dance forms.Pupils will undertake regular IDTA examinations and develop their performance skills through shows and performances.We hold an annual show at Doncaster Civic Theatre to show case pupils talents and acheivements.IDTA and ADFP competitions are on offer to pupils who wish to take this route. Competitions are held throughout the year and give pupils the chance to compete against other dancers in the area. Competitions help enhance performance skill whilst having fun. Competitions are not compulsory but if undertaken require extra commitment from parents and pupils. We look forward to meeting you soon!
DANCE STYLES

Dance Styles

BalletBallet for pleasure, Ballet for the more serious-minded. This classical style of expressive movement has something to offer for everyone. Ballet dates back to the 17th century. The conventional steps, grace and fluidity of movement are still found in Ballet today. Choreographers have been influenced by composers through the ages. Ballet has a technique which is the foundation of all dance.Tap Tap is as popular today as it was in the heyday of the great Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly musicals. Evergreen shows, 42nd Street and Crazy For You, and the more recent Stomp and Tap Dogs highlight the great diversities of style and music in tapping. Tap is a gentle, rhythmical and enjoyable way to keep fit! Modern JazzModern Jazz is fun. You will learn to develop many different movements reaching to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles. Classes are structured to begin to prepare the physical strength and flexibility required to demonstrate emotion through interpretation of any musical genre, one minute you may be dancing to the rhythm of a drum, the next to a funky jazz style. You may explore contrast between expansion and relaxation or learn to isolate in a slick stylish mood, whatever the atmosphere of the class, it will be a wonderful opportunity to react and interact with other members of the class and really dance to express your feelings.Theatre CraftThis most exciting dance form encompasses the wide spectrum of productions that are Musical Theatre. Shows like Grease, My Fair Lady, Bombay Dreams, The Lion King etc all diverse styles but all embraced by the Theatre Craft Title. A dance form for theatrical performance, preparing the body physically through exercise and stimulating artistic ability through dance movement, improvisation and interpretation of music. The use of hand props, make up and much more - it provides all the 'must have' qualities for today's amataeur and professional dancer.Freestyle/DiscoFreestyle/disco is the trendiest and most popular form of dance in the UK today. In involves runs, spins, kicks and leaps as well as many other diverse steps and movements with lots of different arm and hand actions. The music can be fast and 'beaty' or slow and sensuous, allowing dancers of all ages to use freedom of expression to enhance their style.StreetdanceHave you ever seen the hottest pop band's music video or performance on Top of the Pops? Then you will already know what Streetdance looks like. Streetdance takes any form of popular music - from pop to hip hop - and choreographs routines to the beats. We have seen that, only too often, the most successful pop acts have made it big by combining Streetdance routines with their tunes and lyrics.CheerleadingCheerleading is a sport that uses organised routines that take from 1 to 3 minutes made from elements of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers and stunting. Cheereleading originated in America and remains predominately an American activity however it is growing more popular in the UK. Routines use up to date dance music along with pom pom work.Limbering/AcroLimbering classes are taught to increase the flexiblity of the dancer. Pupils are taught exercises to help increase their flexibity in a safe and controlled environment. Some of the elements taught include splits (forward and box), crabs, bridges, kicks, spins, leaps and jumps. Rock 'n' RollRock 'n' Roll is a very athletic, competitive form of dance that originated from lindy hop. It is danced by both couples and groups.It is normally a very fast and physically demanding dance. Because of its demanding technique, high speed, and acrobatics, rock and roll is a straining high-performance dance and is most often performed by young dancers.

Joining couldn't be simpler, just come along to one of the dance classes listed on the school timetable. This is an ADFP Competition.
Competition ClassesOur competition classes are specially designed to develop those who wish to participate in Dance Competitions.Competiton classes cost £20 per month and includes the following:Freestyle solo, Freestyle pairs, Slow Dance, Slow Pairs, Rock 'n' Roll, Street Dance Solo, Street Dance Pairs and Team. Registration costs £10 for the year and must be paid for before competing.Rehersals are priced at £2.50 and must be paid for on the day.Tickets are priced at £10 per ticket and must be paid for on the day. All those competing and spectating at competitions must have a ticket. Costumes vary in price and all pupils will be given information on what to wear when they start classes. U/6 to U12 classes practice on a Monday evening at Pheasant Bank Academy Rossington and U/14 upwards compete on a Thursday evening at Finningley Village Hall.With several of our pupils getting through to the IDTA Nationwide Street Dance Finals in Blackpool two years running we know how to compete!If you would like to learn more please contact Miss Jemma

Welcome to school newsThursday 19th January 2012Exams and ShowsRehearsals are now up for the exam session on 3rd March, West End and Competitions. Please check the notice board, website and facebook for details on these. You will be issued an invoice for your rehearsals and your exams if you are due to take one. Letters about numbers for the coach to London have now gone out. Can you please make sure you return these by Friday so I can book the coach next week. Letters about costumes for the west end will be coming out on Friday - please make sure you pick one up,Thank you to everyone for coming to dancing in the correct uniform - you have all looked very smart!! - Keep it up. Saturday 10th September 2011Welcome Back!Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a lovely summer break. The first week back has gone very well and it was nice to see everyone in their correct uniform. Can you all please make sure that you have on the correct dance wear for the classes you take. Everyone recieved a letter before the summer holidays but if you are still unsure there is a list on the school notice board. We have the dates for our next show now and although it is not until next September I do need to know as soon as possible if you cannot be in it. Invoices for those taking exams will be out at the beginning of October, if you do not receive one then you will not be down to take one this time. Our next exam session will be in February. Any pupil wishing to change classes will now have to wait until after the exam session as it is to disruptive.I would like to also welcome all our new pupils to the school, I hope you will enjoy dancing with us.

Jemma Gamble-Boguszewski - L.I.D.T.A, BDC, ADFPJemma has an IDTA Licentiate Degree in the Freestyle Faculty and an IDTA Associate Degree in Modern Jazz.Jemma started her dance training at the age of 3 with the Marilyn Yeardley School of Dance whilst there she studied Freestyle, Tap, Modern Jazz, Ballet and Theatre Craft gaining top marks in all subjects. Her Professional career has seen her perform in many shows at the Civic Theatre Doncaster, as a dancer in a National UK tour and as a cheerleader for Doncaster Belles football team.Growing up she was part of many choirs, drama groups and orchestras, she is also an accomplished Piano and Violin player. Jemma also attended many IDTA seminars across the UK taking part in sessions taught by people such as Paul Domaine who choreographed for pop bands Steps and Five. In May 2000 she achieved Honours in her Associate Freestyle exam enabling her to set up Reach for the Stars. Since the school started it has produced sell out shows at the Phoenix Theatre, Bawtry, the Hayfield School and at the Civic Theatre, Doncaster where Jemma started her performing carrer.It is a great privilege as Principal of the dance school to have gone from being a performer at the Civic to producing her first dance show there in April 2008. Jemma continues to learn all she can to give the best to all her pupils and furthers her knowledge in other subjects, she is also an Aerobics instructor gaining her RSA Exercise to Music qualification through the YMCA and since February 2005 Jemma has been working with DMBC’s Active Recreation Service, Street Sports and Get Active delivering Dance and Cheerleading sessions in schools and communities throughout Doncaster. Jemma is a Licentiate of the IDTA and recieved her Licentiate Freestyle degree with a mark of 90%- HonoursLaura Hewson - Teacher A.I.D.T.ALaura has danced since the age of 8 and has performed all over the country in numerous shows and competitions. Laura has performed at Saddler's Wells in London and Magic Music Day's Theatre at Disney Land Paris. In 2005 Laura won the IDTA Freestyle Pairs Nationwide Championship. Laura went on to attend Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama in Nottingham where she Graduated with a Diploma in Musical Theatre, IDTA Associate Freestyle and 1 year Foundation Diploma in Musical Theatre. Laura is an accomplished choreogrpaher having taught at Butterfly Dance Studios in Goole and has now brought her talents to Reach for the Stars. Laura teachers all aspects of dance specialising in competition work.Student teachersJasmine Gamble-BoguszewskiHaving danced since she was 18months old, Jasmine is already a seasoned performer. Jasmine has performed all over the country in various shows and to date she has performed at Manchester Opera House as a soloist, Stockport Plaza in Juxtaposed's production of Movies in Motion, Grimsby Auditorium in Bill Kenwrights production of Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat, Oklahoma at Grimsby Auditorium, Doncaster Civic Theatre in The Wizard of Oz and The King and I and Newark Theatre in a Carpenters Tribute. Jasmine has received a top marks for her singing exams in Pop Vocal and Musical Theatre. Jasmine and her Street Dance partner Emma has got through to the finals of the IDTA Nationwide Street Dance Competitions held in Blackpool on March 7th 2010. Jasmine has recieved Honours for all examinations with Reach for the Stars and is not only a talented Street Dancer but has a real flair for Ballet. Jasmine helps with the younger classes teaching all aspects of dance. Jasmine is currently studying towards her student teachers freestyle.Emma O'ConnorEmma has been with the school since 2003 and has become a very talented dancer. Emma along with her partner Jasmine got through to the IDTA Street Dance Finals in Blackpool in March. Emma is a very flexible dancer and is the first to think up new tricks to put in her own routines or the routines she is helping with. Emma has recieved Honours for all exams taken with Reach for the Stars and has performed at all shows and galas. Emma was awarded Pupil of the Year 2009 for excellent dance ability and commitment. Emma helps with Freestyle, Cheerleading and competition classes. Emma is a very talented competition dancer and wins on a regular basis, she is now the North East Lincolnshire U/16 Street Dance champion. Emma is currently studying towards her student teachers freestyle.Natalea RuddNatalea has been with Reach for the Stars Since 2006 and has been part of the Freestyle and Cheerleading classes. 18 months ago Natalea joined the Modern Jazz class which has improved her dancing ability.Natalea is very bright and positive pupil, never forgetting a routine or amalgamation. Natalea is also a member of Reach for the Stars competition class and recently won her Freestyle pairs competition with her partner Jasmine for the fifth time.Natalea is a pleasure to teach and always does everything asked of her. Natalea is a very flexible dancer and helps other pupils with this aspect of dance. Natalea currently helps with younger classes teaching Freestyle, Cheerleading and Compeition classes on Monday Evenings. Natalea is currently studying towards her student teachers freestyle. TERMS & CONDITIONS

Terms & Conditions
The terms and conditions have been produced to ensure that all attending Reach for the Stars School of Dance (Herein referred to as School) have a uniform understanding of what is expected. By attending dance classes provided by the school you agree to adhere to theterms and conditions of school attendance.This version of the Terms and condition came into effect on the 14th December 2007. Notice of the changes was provided on the school notice board on the 13th November 2007Payment of FeesFees for dance classes will be invoiced on a calendar month basis. An invoice for the following month will be issued on the final lesson of the previous month. This invoice will become due for payment in full on the second lesson of the following calendar month. Payment can be made in "cash" or via "cheque". All cheques should be made payable to "Jemma Gamble-Boguszewski" All payments should be returned in the envelope provided. Pupils attending three classes or more must make payment by cheque only.The school reserves the right to impose a £10 administration charge should we need to write to you to recover outstanding fees.Pupils owing more than two months dance fees will be refused tuition until these fees are paid. Non AttendanceThe school must be informed if a pupil is unable to attend. This can be done in the previous weeks class or by telephone. Fees are due if a pupil does not attend a dance class. Pupils who miss three weeks running without prior approval will not be included in any planned shows or performances and may be asked to leave the dance school. Special circumstances will be considered by the school principal. HolidayClasses are held during the normal school term times as determined by Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council although leading up to examinations and shows extra classes may be needed. If extra classes are to be held these will be notified by the school by Newsletter, website and the school notice board. No additional holiday entitlement is permitted. Special circumstances will be considered by the school principal. LeaversAnyone wishing to leave the dance school for whatever reason must give four weeks notice in writing. Fees will be due for the period of notice whether attendance is continued or not. Waiting ListThe maximum class size is 20 pupils, a waiting list will be compiled and new entrants admitted on a first come first served basis. The school have the right to refuse admission.Dress CodePupils are not permitted to wear jeans, jewellery or outdoor footwear. Pupils should wear black jazz pants or jogging trousers, black leotard or school t-shirt and black jazz shoes. Black leotard and skirts should be worn for all Ballet classes. Appropriate footwear must also be worn. Roller Boots, Roller Blades and Heeley's Trainers should not be worn/used during dance classes or on the dance class venue grounds prior to or after a dance classItems can be purchased from the school. Pupils are permitted to wear comfortable clothing they can dance in for the first few weeks of their tuition.ValuablesThe school accepts no liability for any items lost or damaged during the course of a dance class/show/performance. We advise that all attending use a bag to store their personal belongings. All mobile phones and other portable electronic devices such as IPod's and Games Consoles should be switched off during classes/performances.Dance ClassesTo prevent disruption to classes in progress can all parents and pupils wait in the entrance hall. This will ensure all get maximum enjoyment from the classes. Parents and Guardians of new pupils are welcome to watch for the first week only. Please wait until class has finished to speak to the teachers. Staff will be available in the entrance halls should you have any immediate questions.Please check the school notice board and this website for all information regarding classes, exams, shows and rehearsals.
