My name is Elaine Smith and I have a son called Alex who is aged 18 and on the autistic spectrum.
I have set up my community group due to the lack of suitable social activities and clubs for young autistic adults in Deal Kent and surrounding areas.
My aim is to create life long friendships for my son and other young autistic adults through fun activities designed to support education and promote mental well being.
We are not a charity and we do not fundraise.
I do not provide supervision or transport and all trips/activities will need a parent/carer to accompany with any entrance fees paid for on the day which I would advise in advance.
Please contact me using the details at the bottom of this page if you would like to get involved.
We set up our autism community group because we understand that social anxiety can present a huge barrier to engaging with new people and activities for young autistic adults so we would like to invite you to a getting to know you session with us either in Deal Kent or via a video call. This can be arranged in a quiet environment like a public park, on a Teams/video meeting or a friendly pub where we can meet for a chat.
Alex loves meeting new people so if you would like to arrange this please contact me using the details at the bottom of the page.
This cinema is wthout doubt the best we have ever been to!
The parking was very close by, there are places to eat, the seats were so comfortable, it was well lite and they also have Autism friendly screenings with reduced noise although we did not need this.
We went to see the new Ghostbusters movie on a saturday evening and there was only about 5 people watching our film which was nice as Alex suffers from social anxiety. Granted cinema is expensive but as Alex really likes this one we are thinking of joining and getting unlimited viewings for a one off fee per month which is certainly worth looking into.
Alex really enjoyed seeing and learning about all the different animals and the Tigers were a sight to behold and our favourite. Especially hearing them roar!
Kayaking is so much fun and a good way to get into the outdoors and close to nature!
